Should i get this gateway computer?
3 Days ago, i bought a gateway dx4800-05e (Gateway Desktop PC with Intel Pentium Dual-Core Processor E5200, 6GB DDR2, 640GB HDD) from BJ’s wholesale club for $500, and today it broke, i’m not really sure what the problem is, but since it’s within 14 days i might as well just return it.
So what i really want to know is, should i exchange for an identical system, or just take my money and buy a different brand? (in case i run into problems down the line).i’ve heard mixed reviews about Gateway computers and even though i will get the extended warranty, i’d rather not have to use it.
also comes with nvidia 9200 (very good for $500)
The real question is, was it the hardware that seems to be malfunctioning, or is it in the software? I have had many customers come to me with “dead hard drives” which were really just problems in the software. If the system came with factory restore disks or a recovery partition, I would try that first as this may solve your problems.
If it came with disks, it is usually as easy as starting the system with the first disk in the cdrom. if ithas a recovery partition, a special keystroke (like F12 or similar) my need to be pressed before windows starts loading.
