Are Seagate hard drives loud?
The WD Caviar Green is quiet and the Caviar Black is louder, but faster. How does a Seagate drive compare?

Louder or quieter than a Caviar Black?
PS: WD shows the loudness of its drives on its website, this is a good way to compare them, but I don’t know if Seagate does the same.
For most hard drives, the rule of thumb is: the louder it is, the faster it works, but if noise is a problem for your ears you can look for the hard drive’s manufacturer tools to adjust the acoustic levels and some other parameters, using a bootable CD that loads a tiny DOS based operating system. Some motherboards also feature a GUI tool to adjust these settings from within Windows, but if you set the hard drive to a low noise level, don’t expect fast I/O speeds with it.
